Jai Madhav ji, I hope you are well, and I hope your daily Sadhana continues, even amidst the busyness of life. Recently, while reflecting on the path we walk together, I was reminded of a profound discourse by Guruji. He spoke about a trap many of us fall into: searching for the Divine in far-off places while ignoring the miracle that is sitting right within us. It is easy to look at a monument or a deity and feel awe, but it takes true awareness and effort to witness your own journey and realize you are a soul in evolution. Below, I have shared these teachings in Guruji’s own words. Wisdom from the Source“It’s not God that we must go searching for. First, we must search for ourselves and find ourselves—that is what I teach you here in this Ashram. Finding God does not fill a hungry stomach, stop a pandemic, or prevent a war. However, if you find yourself, you will attain true happiness. You might ask: What is the role of the Guru in all this? A true Guru shows you the right path and walks beside you. Even the Guru began this journey just as you did—starting as a unicellular organism on Earth, evolving into primitive man, and continuing through several lives. The soul has traveled through the water, the jungle, and primordial life into the modern world. Through many incarnations, it faced obstacles: floods, famine, wars, etc. Faced many enemies, even enemies who posed as friends to eliminate him. They thought they had destroyed the Guru, but they only saw Guru’s physical body. The Guru is not the body, and neither are you. Then what are you? You are a soul. But can you hold the soul in your hand? Can you see it through expensive spectacles or scientific instruments? If there is a problem with the heart, a device can find it. But can that same device see the soul residing there? We must think and analyze this deeply. There are these seven wonders in the world, right? Millions go and admire them with awe. The Taj Mahal is one of them, built using special white marble and designed with perfect symmetry. Consider the materials used to build it. Did humans create the marble, the diamonds , the emeralds or any of the gems? No. These resources existed in the Earth and evolved through nature’s power over millions of years. Humans simply used their will to modify what was already there. So, what is the real miracle here? Is it the monument built by the emperor? Or is it the sculptors who had the vision and talent to create such a monument? Think about it. We have seen so many discoveries and inventions in the history of humankind, right? The wheel, agriculture, electricity, and so many more. How did people even conceive of these ideas and bring them to life? How did these souls acquire these talents or abilities? Why is it that not everyone has these abilities? Why is one person a great singer while another, after twenty-five years of training, cannot find the rhythm? It is due to the qualities embedded within the soul - talents acquired through a journey of hard work spanning many past lives. The soul awakens to its own potential. Throughout that journey, a guide leads the soul, even if we cannot see Him. Just because we cannot see the soul or the truth does not mean they do not exist. It is time to move beyond ignorance and false knowledge, or we will ruin ourselves. For that, we need awareness, wisdom, and the awakening of our consciousness. This is why you need to practice Nirvana Yoga. And you may wonder why we have so many different types of practices in Nirvana Yoga. It is because the obstacles we face are not outside of us—they are inside our inner universe. In that inner universe, there are faults within the subtle body and the soul. Different obstacles require different practices. In Nirvana Yoga, the practitioner works to destroy these obstacles one by one, clearing the way for the soul to reach completeness. No worldly circumstance should become a hindrance to the soul’s expansion. One must be determined, moving with a clear sense of purpose. We all have different goals or purpose in life, right? Some wants to be doctors, engineers, pilots, or soldiers. For instance, having an aim to be a doctor is well and good. Doctors are necessary for society. But why are some doctors gifted healers while others struggle? Why are some able to diagnose diseases so effectively? Because those souls are travelling the spiritual journey. The soul is carrying the wisdom of healing through its journey. All jobs have their own importance in this world. And we all have many responsibilities— we go for work, take care of kids, take care of parents etc. But along with these responsibilities, we must go through the spiritual journey as well. We must not give up the soul’s journey because of other duties. Spirituality and material life should go hand in hand. Do not be under the false impression that you must choose between the outer world and the soul, or that you cannot manage both. If you are a good human being, you can do both. How do you become a good human being? By doing the right Karma (action). How do you know if we are doing the right actions? To do this, we must learn to distinguish between the three types of qualities—Rajasik, Tamasik, and Satvik—that govern our actions. We must acquire the wisdom to understand which action to take and which one to discard. Through Nirvana Yoga, we get rid of unwanted habits and unnecessary burdens, allowing the soul to complete its journey.” You were never searching for a distant God. You were always searching for yourself. And that search — sincere, sustained, guided — is the most sacred journey a soul can undertake. The teachings of Guruji shared here are not meant to be read once and set aside. They are meant to be lived with — carried into your day, your work, your relationships, your practice. The soul did not come this far to remain incomplete. Trust the path. Now we would like to hear what resonated with you. Feel free to reply.
